Our top tips for getting back in shape after the mid-year holidays

After a winter break, you may feel the urge to kick start your exercise or diet regime so you can boost your health in no time.

Here are a few of our best tips to help you achieve this goal.

Make a plan

It may take baby steps before you get back into your old habits and you may need to make some changes to your routine. After a mid winter break you can't expect to jump right back into your routine so start off slowly and build your way back.

If you struggle to find time in your day to fit exercise in, why not consider a social media or screen detox program? Instead of coming home to crash on the couch in front of the TV or laptop, you could instead use this time to get out on the track and go for a run or fit in an appointment at the gym.

Do something fun

It can be hard to keep exercising unless you are having a good time. Try to fit in some fun where you can, whether that be taking a dance class or popping some upbeat music on your MP3 player to get you excited about exercising.

Clean our your pantry

Winter is often a time when we indulge in comfort foods as heavy meals and sumptuous desserts become staples.

To get back into shape, it is essential to look into your cupboard. Keep a record of what you eat and see if there are any treats you can cut out.

Eliminating sugar from your diet for a month could help you to regain control and start the journey to a healthier you, or you could do an alcohol detox. Those cocktails, wines and beers could be having more of an impact on your waistline than you realise!
