Febfast 2026

Why I Febfast

I’m taking on Febfast to support people in crisis. Life can feel overwhelming, and having someone to listen makes all the difference. Please donate to help Lifeline be there when it matters most.

Every 24 seconds, someone in Australia reaches out to Lifeline
for help

That’s more than 3000 people a day who just need someone to listen. By skipping the sip for one month, I’m not only giving my body a break – I’m helping make sure Lifeline can be there, anytime and anywhere, for the people who need it most.
It’s a small challenge for me, but it could mean life-changing support for someone else.

Together we can ensure Lifeline can continue to be there 24/7 so that no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

MY PROGRESS

Check out my Febfast calendar to see my progress! You can choose a date to sponsor me with a One-OFF Pass. It will give me a night off my challenge while still supporting Australians in crisis.

MY IMPACT SO FAR

I've raised $166 so far - that's 4 calls answered for Lifeline's crisis support hotline.

Every $39 helps power another call, offering hope and crucial moments of connection to people in their toughest moments. Will you back me with a donation?

Iced coffee

Friday 6th Feb
As someone who regularly enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening (or a digestive Teufelskrauter, Cointreau, G&T or Tommy's Margarita), it is some surprise to me that I don't miss the vino or spirits this Febfast. Maybe it's got to do with the season. Another hot and humid day today and I was reaching for the Coke Zero after school pick-up, before E offered to make an iced coffee (smashing). While they are both great options, I reckon I could go happily with sparkling water and ice as my sole hydration choice. Not sure if carbonation leeches Vitamin D from the bones -- I think I heard that somewhere. Might need to consult Dr Google ...

And on the seventh day ...

Sunday 1st Feb
With a drive back from Forster last Monday, and three hospital procedures on Thursday that required fasting, I opted to start FebFast on Australia Day. Why is this relevant? Because today marks my seventh consecutive alcohol-free day, and to celebrate tonight, my dinner consisted of homemade pizza with a glass not of red wine but of Elderflower tonic water, sans gin, and a choc mint Drumstick for dessert. Somehow, I suspect the weight I lost swiftly in the past four days is coming back with a vengeance. Might have to keep the feast days to the seventh days during the remainder of FebFast!

Abstain early, abstain often

Tuesday 27th Jan
January 27: Night two of Febfast, and Mochi is back in the house. The lengthening shadows augur zoomies, and she is in full flight as Caitlin and Liam wave her toys in the air. During a brief break at Forster, she stayed at Granny and Grandad's place and I know she had a great time – even more so because she lamented leaving them all the way home. Early days in this challenge, but I've enjoyed drinking carbonated water as the fancy beverage.
