Why I Febfast
I don’t talk about this often, and a lot of people might not know, but before my 18th birthday my older brother passed away by suicide. Growing up, losing a brother at the age when you should be having the time of your life was hard. He was always a wild guy,a little more than me, I think I handled his death as best I could and accepted that it was his decision. But the truth is, if drugs and alcohol weren’t involved, maybe he’d still be here. I would much rather have my brother with me today. Anyone who knows me knows I love being social and a little crazy too. I enjoy a cheeky beer, wine, or cocktail here and there. But this year, I want to make a difference. So I’m doing FebFast. I’ve always wanted to do something meaningful for my brother, whether it was a marathon or a charity challenge, and this feels like the right way to do it. It’s a chance to honour him and support others who might be struggling too. If you’re able to donate whether it’s $1, $2, $20, or anything at all it would honestly mean so much and help make a real difference. if you’re out there struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, please know you’re not alone. There are places like Lifeline (13 11 14) and other support services where you can talk to someone and get help.
