Febfast 2026

Why I Febfast

This February, I’m taking part in FebFast to raise funds for suicide prevention. Twenty four years ago, when I was 15, my uncle Marco Petrolati took his own life. His death changed our family forever. Like so many families, we continue to live with both the grief of his loss and the love we hold for who he was. Marco was an exceptional carpenter who took great pride in his work, a gifted drummer who loved music, deeply committed to his faith, and incredibly generous with his time and care. As his only niece, I was very spoilt by my uncles, and I adore/d them. Some of my most treasured memories are of Marco playing music, shooting hoops with me, and simply showing up with kindness and joy. By doing FebFast, I want to honour Marco’s life and keep his memory alive for the person he truly was, while also supporting vital suicide prevention services that help people get support earlier. Suicide impacts families across generations. Funds raised through FebFast contribute to early intervention, crisis support, and mental health services that save lives and reduce the risk of other families experiencing the loss ours did. If you’re able to donate, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this page or checking in on someone you care about this month also matters.

Every 24 seconds, someone in Australia reaches out to Lifeline
for help

That’s more than 3,000 people every single day who just need someone to listen. By skipping the sip for one month, I’m not only giving my body a break – I’m helping make sure Lifeline can be there, anytime and anywhere, for the people who need it most.
It’s a small challenge for me, but it could mean life-changing support for someone else.

Together we can ensure Lifeline can continue to be there 24/7 so that no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

MY PROGRESS

Check out my Febfast calendar to see my progress! You can choose a date to sponsor me with a One-OFF Pass. It will give me a night off my challenge while still supporting Australians in crisis.

MY IMPACT SO FAR

I've raised $1339 so far - that's 34 calls answered for Lifeline's crisis support hotline.

Every $39 helps power another call, offering hope and crucial moments of connection to people in their toughest moments. Will you back me with a donation?
