Why I Febfast

I’m doing FebFast to support Lifeline — a service that has been there for many during some of the hardest moments of their lives. I’ve experienced my own mental health struggles, and I know how much it matters to have someone there when everything feels heavy and overwhelming. Too many Australians are struggling in silence. Lifeline answers thousands of calls every day from people who just need to be heard. Your donation helps ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone. If you’re able to give, please know that your support truly makes a difference. 🤍

Every 24 seconds, someone in Australia reaches out to Lifeline
for help

That’s more than 3,000 people every single day who just need someone to listen. By skipping the sip for one month, I’m not only giving my body a break – I’m helping make sure Lifeline can be there, anytime and anywhere, for the people who need it most.
It’s a small challenge for me, but it could mean life-changing support for someone else.

Together we can ensure Lifeline can continue to be there 24/7 so that no one has to face their toughest moments alone.

MY PROGRESS

Check out my Febfast calendar to see my progress! You can choose a date to sponsor me with a One-OFF Pass. It will give me a night off my challenge while still supporting Australians in crisis.

MY IMPACT SO FAR

I've raised $1011 so far - that's 25 calls answered for Lifeline's crisis support hotline.

Every $39 helps power another call, offering hope and crucial moments of connection to people in their toughest moments. Will you back me with a donation?

My story with Lifeline

Thursday 12th Feb

A bit of a long and vulnerable post — if you have a minute, I’d really love to share my story with Lifeline 🤍

Mental health doesn’t discriminate — it can slip in softly and unexpectedly, even when life looks happy and full.

Overall, I’m a very happy and positive person. I love making my friends laugh and I take pride in being someone others can lean on during hard times. I’ve also been incredibly lucky to have the most supportive family and friends anyone could ask for.

Just over a year ago, I went through a depressive period that caught me completely off guard. Despite the love and support surrounding me, I felt isolated, lost, and like a burden to the people I cared about most. Because I’ve always been “the happy friend,” I felt a huge amount of guilt about opening up. I didn’t want to worry anyone or feel like I was adding to their load — especially when I couldn’t even explain why I felt the way I did.

I slowly began to isolate myself, pushing people away and convincing myself I had to deal with everything alone. At my lowest point, I truly didn’t know where to turn or how to pull myself out of the hole I was in. I knew, deep down, that if I reached out to my friends or family they would have shown up for me in a heartbeat — but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Instead, I reached out to Lifeline.

Lifeline provides 24/7 confidential support to anyone who is struggling, feeling overwhelmed, or simply needs someone to talk to. They are there in the moments when it feels too hard to reach out to the people closest to you.

I’m definitely not out of the woods with my mental health, but I’m learning that things feel a little lighter when you accept help. Lifeline can be an incredible support on the days when it feels like there’s no one else to turn to.

I’m sharing my story and fundraising for Lifeline to help reduce the stigma around mental health and to remind anyone reading this that you are not weak for needing help, and you are never alone. If my story helps even one person feel less isolated, then it’s worth sharing 🤍
